Accreditation and Approvals - Institutional Information Legal control is vested in the Board of Trustees of Johnson & Wales University. The university is approved for the training of veterans. JWU is an institutional member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges. The university is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. JWU is listed in the Education directory of Colleges & Universities issued by the U.S. Department of Education. JWU, its faculty, and members of the administrative staff hold affiliations with numerous organizations. Johnson & Wales University will make available for review to any enrolled or prospective student, upon request, a copy of the documents describing the institution's accreditation, approval or licensing. Providence Campus Culinary Nutrition Graduate Programs The Master of Arts in Teaching program at the School of Education is certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education. North Miami Campus Denver Campus The Denver Campus has been granted developmental accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetics Association, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 312-899-0040 ext. 5400. The Denver Campus Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) meets the standards of education set by CADE. Please see Accreditation & Approvals for institutional information. Charlotte Campus 2008 NEASC VISIT The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education is one of eight accrediting commissions in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis. Accreditation is voluntary and applies to the institution as a whole. The Commission, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, accredits approximately 200 institutions in the six-state New England region. Johnson & Wales University has been accredited by the Commission since 1993 and was last reviewed in 1998. Its accreditation by the New England Association encompasses the entire institution. For the past year and a half, Johnson & Wales University has been engaged in a process of self-study, addressing the Commissions Standards of Accreditation. An evaluation team will visit the institution to gather evidence that the self-study is thorough and accurate. The team will recommend to the Commission a continuing status for the institution; following a review process, the Commission itself will take the final action. The public is invited to submit comments regarding the institution to: Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution. Comments will not be treated as confidential. Written, signed comments must be received by October 30, 2008. The Commission cannot guarantee that comments received after that due date will be considered. Comments should include the name, address, and telephone number of the person providing the comments. The Commission cannot settle disputes between individuals and institutions, whether those involve faculty, students, administration, or members of other groups. Individuals considering submitting complaints against an affiliated institution should request the separate Policy and Procedures for the Consideration of Complaints Made Against Affiliated Institutions from the Commission office.
